2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Interior, Dimensions, Performance – Fantastic opportunities arise from time to time, and you should take full advantage of them. Two 2027 Toyota Tundras were involved in this incident. Two of these brand-new vehicles were needed in Whitehorse, Yukon, by Toyota Canada for an excursion to Tuktoyuktuk, N.W.T., and then returning to the Toronto headquarters.
When Toyota offered to fly me and my buddy and fellow car journalist Derek McNaughton north to pick up the trucks and drive them home, we jumped at the chance because shipping them via flatbed would have cost $5,000 each truck. The fact that one of the two trucks was a 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro with its new hybrid powertrain enhanced the already incredible potential for an epic road journey over a significant portion of Canada’s breathtaking Northern Rockies. 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Interior
2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Redesign and Update Plan
Exterior and Interior
Although pick-up trucks aren’t known for their particularly comfortable rides, off-road suspensions may provide a nice amount of cushioning when driving (although at the cost of handling precision). While I was expecting a softer ride, the TRD Pro is much firmer. Plus, the seats in the Tundra are really comfortable; although Dan Ilika, editor of AutoTrader’s road test, complained of back pain after just a short time behind the wheel, my copilot Derek and I both noted how great we felt after many 12-hour drives.
In addition to adjustable tie-down cleats and a cleverly concealed damped tailgate release behind the driver-side taillight, the TRD Pro lacks the bumper cutout and pop-out step seen on the majority of competing trucks, making it more difficult to load into storage containers. Built on the same platform as the Limited, the TRD Pro comes standard with a tonne of useful features including a sunroof and heated steering wheel.
In the event that a spotter is not accessible, the off-road crawling capabilities of the TRD Off Road and TRD Pro vehicles can be enhanced by around-view camera systems. Additional features include a locking rear differential, armor around the engine, fuel tank, and transfer case, control for hill descent and crawl, and more. In addition to its upgraded look, the TRD Pro has a unique front stabilizer bar, nasty Fox shocks, and more.

Engine and Performance
My first day behind the wheel was a rigorous study of the Tundra SR5, a crew cab variant with a longer 6-foot-5 box. Despite its insatiable thirst, I have always respected Toyota for the previous-generation Tundra’s huge, classic V8 engine since it was strong and had a lot of personality. The new Tundra’s twin-turbocharged V6 is naturally more efficient, which upset me at first. However, my sadness was quickly replaced when I pushed on the pedal and the truck accelerated commandingly from a standstill.
Despite carrying an extra 235 kg (518 lb), including the 57-kg (126 lb) battery pack, the hybrid truck makes no noticeable difference in acceleration from a standstill up to around 100 km/h. As the hybrid truck gains speed, especially in slower traffic, its greater mid- and upper-range power becomes more noticeable compared to the non-hybrid vehicle. Under intense kicking, the V6 in both trucks sounds forceful, with a hint of turbo whistle, even if some of the song is digitally produced. Maybe we shouldn’t feel bad for the V8 after all.
The Tundra’s new 10-speed automatic transmission is really remarkable. It seems counterintuitive that a gearbox with so many gears would always seek the optimal setting, but that’s not the case here. Smooth, fluid, and quick shifts are the norm for the Tundra, and it never seems caught off guard when a request is made for quick acceleration. With this transmission and the strong engine, the big Toyota feels remarkably responsive at any speed. 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Interior
2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Fuel Economy
When people think about hybrids, most people immediately think of better gas mileage, particularly when Toyota is involved. The gas-electric powertrain in this truck is called i-Force Max, and the name doesn’t imply efficiency, but rather plenty of power, which is exactly what you get.
Government estimates place the TRD Pro’s fuel economy at 12.9 L/100 km in city conditions, 11.6 L/100 km in highway conditions, and 12.3 L/100 km combined. Compared to the non-hybrid truck we were driving beside, it’s somewhat better in town but a full liter poorer on the highway. There is almost any difference between the two in the official totals.
The Tundra TRD Pro consistently had lower fuel economy than the non-hybrid SR5 trim throughout our 5,500 km journey, which included multiple fuel stops. This was most noticeable in the early part of the trip, when we were traveling at higher speeds, when the difference was 2.0 L/100 km, and in the later part of the trip, when we were in more congested areas, when the difference was roughly 1.0 L/100 km.
2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Safety Features
According to Toyota, the Tundra has several of passive and active safety features. The TRD Pro boasts superior adaptive lighting, however all versions have automatic high-beam adjustment for LED headlights. Other technologies include blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, and the ability to identify and avoid frontal and rear-end crashes.
The adaptive cruise control and front collision warning systems were deactivated during a few mountain squalls because the sensor was covered in snow, which is a common occurrence for modern vehicles. Even though the warning about the trailer I wasn’t pulling was concerning, it’s conceivable that any bugs in the code were still being fixed in the test units. Even in the milder of the two settings, the driver retains full control by deactivating the lane-departure intervention by holding the button down for a few seconds.
2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Price and Release Date
In a time when full-size pickups can regularly cost six figures, a $80,000 Tundra with all the outward and interior amenities of this TRD Pro, including forged wheels and high-end shocks, looks like a decent deal. The new top-of-the-line Capstone version is available for those seeking even greater opulence. However, considering that the TRD Off Road package costs $11,000 less than the TRD Pro, it makes one wonder how much value the TRD Pro’s flashy suspension and good looks actually provide. 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Interior
